Silk-screen poster, 1977
Poster, printed silver on black uncoated paper, to promote Landscape’s 1977 indie EP ‘U2XME1X2MUCH’ on the band’s own Event Horizon label. The seven-inch, 33 1/3 rpm vinyl copies were distributed by Lightning and Rough Trade, etc., but the biggest sales came from live gigs.
We also sold T-shirts, either with the ‘island’ logo designed by Christina Fraser, or ‘Nearly Normal’ set in silver caps. Sales of merchandise, usually handled by trusted roadie Martin Bradley, helped with cashflow, and usually went straight back into fuel for the truck.
‘Absolutely live … without overdubs,’ said the poster, and it really was – the EP was recorded at Landscape’s weekly London residencies at the Stapleton Tavern in Crouch Hill (Tuesdays) and the Swan in Hammersmith (Thursdays).
If you have bootleg tapes or videos of Landscape gigs, please contact the band via landscapeofficial1981@gmail.com. We’d love to hear them.
